NORTH CHARLESTON — Two games into the season, Bishop England is scoring at a pace seldom seen in the Kelly green.

Bishop England rolled past Stall, 77-53, Friday in the second round of the Stall Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Bishops have poured in 142 points through their first two games — their most productive start to any season since 2005. The last time Bishop England scored as many points and won its first two games of the season, it was 1997.

“If we play our perfect game, we’ll hang with anybody,” Bishop England coach Bryan Grevey said. “Because we’re so deep and we have a lot of shooters who can score the ball. I’m comfortable playing everybody on our team.”

Bishops senior guard Brendan McHale one-upped his 29-point season-opening performance on Wednesday with another 30 points against Stall on Friday.

McHale scored 23 in the first half alone as the Bishops broke open a 32-19 halftime advantage.

Bishops senior forward Christian Drummond took over the second half, scoring 16 of his 21 points in the third quarter to give Bishop England a 36-point advantage entering the fourth.

“Christian really makes it hard on defenses because he’s capable of playing inside or stepping out and shooting the three,” Grevey said. “He’s one of our true leaders and we expect big things from his this year.”

Bishop England advances to face Porter-Gaud in the tournament championship game on Saturday. The defending SCISA AAA state champion Cyclones followed a 64-40 win over Stratford on Wednesday with a 64-48 win over Pinewood on Friday.
