Bishop England, Oceanside and Wando’s girls golf teams all qualified for their respective state tournaments this week.

The defending state champion Lady Bishops shot 314 through 18 holes to tie Bluffton for first place at the AAA Lower State qualifier hosted by Diamondback Golf Course in Loris.

Oceanside carded 340 to place third overall, led by Gabriela Martinez, who shot a 66 to finish one stroke off Bluffton’s Sophia Burnett for first place. Rachel Rich followed three strokes behind in third for the Landsharks.

Bishop England’s Kathleen Sumner, last year’s AA state champion, shot a 72 to place fifth on the individual leaderboard. Bishops sophomore Kennedy Carroll placed seventh with a 75.

The AAA state championship will be held Monday and Tuesday at Carolina Springs Golf Club in Fountain Inn.

Wando earned its bid into the AAAAA state championship with a fifth-place finish at the Lower State tournament this week at Coosaw Creek in North Charleston.

The Lady Warriors shot 357 through 18 holes to finish two strokes off fourth-place Fort Dorchester and 45 behind Lower State champion Lexington.

Wando junior Emma Smith carded a 79 to lead the Warriors in seventh place on the overall leaderboard. Teammate Ella Drew Dodd shot a 91, and Regan Clifford followed one stroke behind at 92.

The AAAAA state championship will be played Monday and Tuesday at The Members Club at Wildewood in Columbia.

Wando is among the final teams to tee off Monday morning and will be paired with Northwestern and T.L. Hanna, who placed fifth and six, respectively, at the Upper State qualifier.
