Several of the East Cooper area’s top lacrosse players have been recognized among the nation’s best.
Six players, four boys and two girls, were selected as U.S. Lacrosse high school All-Americans, while three others were All-Academic picks.
Bishop England senior midfielder Emma Pizzo and junior midfielder Ava Ward were among seven girls from South Carolina named All-Americans.
Pizzo led the state in scoring and assists this season, while guiding the Bishops to their third straight state championship. The now three-time All-American graduates as the state’s all-time leading scorer. Ward was fifth in the state in scoring, including three goals in the state championship game.
Wando’s reining four-time state champion boys team earned three All-American nods with senior defender Owen Broucqsault, junior attack Tommy Marcoon and senior midfielder Andrew Hamilton.
Broucqsault, the AAAAA Lower State Defender of the Year, led a Warriors stronghold that surrendered fewer than 10 goals in 11 of 16 games this season, averaging just eight through four playoff games. Marcoon, Lower State Player of the Year, led Wando with 42 goals and 29 assists. Hamilton ranked third in the state with a .750 faceoff percentage to go with 90 ground balls.
Oceanside senior midfielder Riley Seay also earned All-American honors. Seay ranked second in the state with 68 goals and 33 assists. He led the Landsharks to the AAAA state title in their first postseason appearance after winning three championships the previous three years at Wando.

Bishop England’s Grace Ann Carlson was named to the girls All-Academic team, while Wando’s Quinn Corrigan and Luke Sutton were honored on the boys side.
Dorman coach Ron Cadorett was named South Carolina’s Coach of the Year, despite the Cavaliers’ 15-7 loss to Wando in the state championship game.
U.S. Lacrosse selects All-Americans based on superior skills, techniques and exceptional game sense and knowledge. A U.S. Lacrosse All-American is “one of the best players in the United States, while also embodying excellent sportsmanship,” according to the organization.
U.S. Lacrosse All-Academic honorees are selected based on lacrosse skills, sportsmanship and academic achievement.
