“If they’re on their game I don’t see anybody in the state beating them,” Georgetown Coach Jason West said. “They’re better than they were last year.”
Bishop England went undefeated at the tournament, beating Hartsville 9-3, T.L Hanna 6-5, and Summerville 11-1.
Georgetown and South Florence played the second game of the tournament on Thursday, and the Bruins used an 8-run seventh inning to beat the Bulldogs 13-3.
Georgetown only had three hits in the game: two singles from Marshall Sasser and one from Pep Jordan. Gage Cannon and Will Owens had an RBI, and Cannon, Brett Howard, Pearson Adams and Kel Owens all drew walks.
Three Georgetown pitchers – Josh Jones, Will Owens and Riley Wendell – combined to give up seven hits, 13 runs (11 earned) and 11 walks and struck out four. Jones took the loss.
Blythewood scored 8 run in the sixth inning on Friday and beat Georgetown 17-1.
Adams had two hits, and Sasser, Deakidd Anderson and Jordan Eaddy each had one. Jones had the only RBI for the Bulldogs, and Sasser had the only walk.
Four Georgetown pitchers – Jordan, Bret Kirtley, Justin Seat and Anderson - combined to give up 16 hits, 17 runs (10 earned) and four walks and struck out six. Jordan took the loss.
Boiling Springs scored 9 runs in the fourth inning on Saturday, and then held on for the 13-10 win over Georgetown.
“We fought really hard,” West said. “We had some big hits by some kids.”
The Bulldogs banged out 15 hits. Kirtley had three, Jordan, Seat, Wendell and Kel Owens had two each, Sasser, Adams, Jones and Hunter Young all had one. Georgetown also drew eight walks. Young had three, Kel Owens had two, and Jordan, Jones and Will Owens had one each. Adams and Young had two RBIs, and Jordan, Wendell and Seat each drove in one run.

Hartsville scored 9 runs in the first two innings to beat Georgetown 9-8 on Sunday in the seventh-place game.
Wendell had two of Georgetown’s eight hits. Jordan, Adams, Jones, Kirtley, Young and Seat each had one hit. Kirtley, Wendell and Seat had RBI, and Adams, Jordan and Jones all drew walks.
Three Georgetown pitchers – Jeremy Owens, Cannon and Wendell – combined to give up eight hits, nine runs (seven earned), and two walks and struck out five. Jeremy Owens took the loss.
Georgetown has not won an IP Classic game since defeating Dorman in 2014.
