The latest S.C. Basketball Coaches Association rankings were released Tuesday afternoon with Bishop England listed third in Class AAA for the first time this season.

Bishop England had previously been ranked second in AAA since Jan. 4 but swapped positions with Manning in Tuesday’s poll.

Hours later, Bishop England sent a clear statement to voters, blowing out Manning 67-40 on Daniel Island.

Bishop England dominated Manning from the opening tip. The Bishops stifled the Monarchs with their defense in the first half, surrendering only nine points in the first quarter and then just two points in the second.

Bishop England then flexed its offense in the second half, ringing up 22 points in the third quarter and piling on 21 more in the fourth.

Manning entered Tuesday averaging 77 points over its past three games. The Bishops limited the Monarchs to just 21 percent shooting. Bishop England forced 21 turnovers and outrebounded Manning, 67-30.

Three different Bishops posted double-doubles. Rhetta Moore scored 19 points with 10 rebounds; Katie Cullum scored 17 and pulled down 16 boards; and Christine Egede turned in 12 points with 12 rebounds.

Bishop England (14-3, 3-0) has won its past three games by an average of 39 points and now holds sole possession of first place in Region 7-AAA.
