One of the best high school volleyball players in the country donned the Kelly green of Daniel Island this season.

Bishop England senior Emma Lawrence was named a MaxPreps Small Schools All-American after leading the Bishops to a national record 17th consecutive state championship in November.

The 5-foot-9 outside hitter was a third-team selection. She was the only player in South Carolina chosen and one of just 51 players in the nation that filled out the three small schools All-American teams.

Lawrence was crowned Class AAA player of the year after leading the state by a wide margin with 335 total kills and three kills per set this season. Her 342 digs ranked second best in all of AAA.

The three-year letterman led Bishop England in kills in three of its final four playoff games and posted team-highs in both kills and digs as the Bishops swept Camden in the state championship game.

Lawrence is the fifth consecutive MaxPreps Small Schools All-American selection from Bishop England, following two-time pick Montana Swanson (2014-15), Mary Harriet Moore (2013) and Ellie James (2012).
